Navneet Bakshi- A Voyage Through Words and Worlds

Engineer by profession. Writer by passion. A sailor with a pen and purpose.

Welcome Aboard- My World of Words

“These aren’t just pages, they’re ports—
Each word, a wave from distant thoughts.”

Step aboard this humble vessel, where thoughts set sail on tides of poetry, memory, and meaning.
Here, I share fragments of life shaped by pen and pause—crafted across quiet hours and stirring storms.

Whether you’re a wanderer of verse, a lover of stories, or simply someone seeking refuge in reflection—
I welcome you to explore this world built not with bricks, but with words.

Drop anchor. Browse. Linger.
There’s always more on the horizon.

Navneet Bakshi

About Me

Born in Amritsar and raised in the hill town of Shimla, I pursued Mechanical Engineering from Chandigarh. I never imagined a life at sea — until a friend, on a whim, submitted an application on my behalf. The opportunity turned real, and my late mother’s wish encouraged me to set sail.

In the early years, slower cargo operations gave me a chance to explore ports across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. As a Chief Engineer, I worked on ship revivals and takeovers from Miami to Dubai. Later, I spent nearly a decade in China supervising shipbuilding projects on shore.

Writing, however, has always been my soul’s anchor. From playful verses in childhood to humorous college poems and now prose, blogs, and novels — words have been my lifelong companions. Today, I gather all that I’ve written, and all that I still hope to write, under one platform.

English Poetry

From childhood, poetry was my playground. What began as little verses for parental praise evolved into humorous poems in college, and eventually became a lifelong passion.

Books

My books have lived quiet lives — born with passion, released with hope, and sometimes returned unopened. Yet they carry the essence of everything I’ve seen and written. From “Main Bhi Bana Minister” to Pee at Sea series, this space brings together my published (and soon-to-be) works.

Blogs

From Sulekha’s golden era to the Facebook timelines, my blogs trace decades of lived moments — reflections from the sea, musings from the mountains, glimpses of everyday life, and stories spun around people, places, and purpose. These words have been my anchor and compass.

Short Stories

Woven from the threads of real-life encounters and sea-bound adventures, my short stories blend humor, reflection, and a touch of nostalgia. Many of these tales were born on long voyages, inspired by curious characters, peculiar incidents, and the quiet moments in between. Whether written in verse or prose, each story captures a slice of life as seen through the eyes of a sailor, a poet, and a lifelong observer of the human condition.

Humor & Satire

Life at sea, and life on land — both offer plenty to laugh at, if you have the right eyes. Here you’ll find tales in verse and prose, often absurd, occasionally outrageous, but always rooted in truth. From Ministers in rhyme to Panditjis in Panama, humour has long been my way of storytelling.

Childhood Memories

The narrow lanes of Amritsar, the dreamy heights of Shimla, the simple joys of growing up before screens — my childhood is a well I often draw from. These memoirs, written during quiet lockdown days and family visits to Australia, are an ode to innocence and wonder.

Hindi Poetry

From childhood, poetry was my playground. What began as little verses for parental praise evolved into humorous poems in college, and eventually became a lifelong passion. I write humorous and romantic poetry, both in English and Hindi.

Novels

My books have lived quiet lives — born with passion, released with hope, and sometimes returned unopened. Yet they carry the essence of everything I’ve seen and written. From “Main Bhi Bana Minister” to Pee at Sea series, this space brings together my published (and soon-to-be) works.

China Diary

I lived and worked in China for nearly a decade, witnessing a nation racing ahead with determination and humility. I wrote about the people, the progress, and the paradoxes — and found my words embraced by a country I once knew little about. This diary is a bridge across cultures.
